Ōtāhuhu – Whakamaru A and B line reconductoring project

On 9 December 2025 Transpower New Zealand Limited (Transpower) submitted an application proposing an increase in its base capex allowance to reconductor the Flatbush to Hūnua section (31km) of the Ōtāhuhu-Whakamaru A and B transmission lines in Auckland due to conductor corrosion issues. 

Transpower is seeking our approval to add $50.5 million ($ nominal) to its base capex allowance for the regulatory control period from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2030 (RCP4).

Submissions are due by 5pm Thursday 21 May 2026, and cross-submissions are due by 5pm Tuesday 9 June 2026
