Orion’s CPP 2027
On 9 June 2026 Orion New Zealand Limited (Orion) formally applied to modify its regulated revenue path via a customised price-quality path (CPP).
Orion have applied to the Commission for a CPP. Its application highlights the challenges facing Orion’s network including ageing assets, population growth in Selwyn and Christchurch, increasing electrification and the need to prepare for more frequent severe weather events. Orion’s CPP application can be found at the end of this page, in the ‘Documents’ section.
We will decide the maximum amount Orion will be allowed to recover from its consumers and the minimum quality of service it must deliver.
We will be inviting feedback as part of our consultation process throughout 2026 with a final decision to be made in March 2027. An outline of our process and indicative timeframes can be found below.
Current Stage in the Process
On 5 August 2026 we published a Notice that Orion New Zealand’s CPP application has been accepted as complete and IM compliant. Alongside this we also published a Process and Issues paper on Orion’s CPP proposal. Both documents can be found in the ‘Documents’ tab below.
On 2 September we published submissions received in response to our Process and Issues paper. All submissions can be found in the ‘Documents’ tab below.
