Ōtāhuhu – Whakamaru A and B line reconductoring project

On 9 December 2025 Transpower New Zealand Limited (Transpower) submitted an application proposing an increase in its base capex allowance to reconductor the Flatbush to Hūnua section (31km) of the Ōtāhuhu – Whakamaru (OTA – WKM) A and B transmission lines in Auckland due to conductor corrosion issues. Transpower’s cost estimate for the project is $50.5 million ($ nominal).

Transpower is seeking our approval to add $50.5 million ($ nominal) to its base capex allowance for the regulatory control period from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2030 (RCP4).
