Mobile Co-location Investigation
We are considering whether the continued regulation of Mobile Co-location is still necessary to promote competition.
Mobile Co-location enables a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) to install mobile network transmission and reception equipment on another MNO’s tower.
In February 2026, the Commerce Commission found there are reasonable grounds to commence an investigation into whether Mobile Co-location should be omitted from Schedule 1 of the Telecommunications Act 2001 (Act).
We are currently consulting on a draft report and will prepare and deliver a final report to the Minister by February 2027.
