Here you will find information disclosed by electricity distributors from 2008 to April 2025. This information helps people to better understand how the electricity sector is performing.
We have taken the information from the public disclosures which are available on each distributor’s website.
Disclosures from 2000 to 2007 were required to be gazetted and are available on the New Zealand Gazetteopen_in_new website.
To keep the ID dataset file sizes manageable we have split the data into groups of years. An ID dataset of all years of data is also available but due to the volume of data this is only available in .csv and parquet.
To make it easier for stakeholders to analyse this information, we have provided ID datasets in various formats. The xlsx format is suitable for most users and we have made changes to keep the file size manageable. The compressed csv (csv.gz) and parquet formats will suit those using machine-readable tools.
The data dictionary (also found below) includes a description of columns within the ID datasets and other useful information about the data. For definitions of terms used in the disclosures themselves, see the latest version of the information disclosure determination.
As well as the ID dataset we provide download links to the PAT dataset, i.e. data used in the Performance Accessibility Tool visualisation. This is a subset of the ID dataset along with some aggregations. Data in the PAT dataset is grouped by the tabs in the visualisation and may be more accessible for users than the entire ID dataset.
The PAT dataset contains information on actual and forecast capital and operating expenditure, actual and forecast reliability, circuit length of electric lines, demand and capacity (including customer numbers and electricity volumes), revenue and profitability, the regulatory asset base, and the condition and age of electricity lines.
