The 2011 amendments to the Telecommunications Act 2001 introduced a requirement for the Commission to maintain a register of those users to whom Chorus may supply telecommunications services. This is known as the register of non-retail users and can be found on the link at the bottom of this webpage.
Section 69O states that Chorus must not supply telecommunications services to a person if that person will consume 25% or more of the services supplied themselves. If a user’s name is on the register, it is conclusive evidence that Chorus does not breach section 69O by supplying telecommunications services to that user.
The Commission has processes to manage applications to add names to the register, inform people about these applications, and receive complaints about the inclusion of users on the register. Information about these processes can be found by clicking on the links below.
