Statement of preliminary issues for Connor's application to acquire Acuity

The Commission has published a statement of preliminary issues relating to an application from Connor Healthcare Limited seeking clearance to acquire all the shares in Acuity Health Group Limited that it does not presently own.

The statement of preliminary issues outlines the key competition issues that the Commission currently considers will be important in deciding whether or not to grant clearance.

The Commission invites submissions from parties who consider that they have information relevant to the Commission’s consideration of this matter. Submissions can be sent to the registrar@comcom.govt.nz with the reference Connor/Acuity in the subject line of your email or to PO Box 2351, Wellington 6140 by close of business Friday 10 October 2014.

Background

Connor is 100% owned by Evolution Healthcare, which owns and operates the Boulcott private hospital in Lower Hutt. 

Acuity is publicly listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. Acuity owns and operates the Wakefield and Bowen private hospitals in Wellington, and the Royston private hospital in Hastings.
