Mr Mira Singh
On 9 December 2025, in the Auckland District Court, Mr Mira Singh was found in contempt of court under section 16 of the Contempt of Court Act 2019. The circumstances of his contempt were that in continuing to be involved in the supply of fire safety equipment and the offering of services connected to fire safety equipment, Mr Singh had failed to adhere to an earlier (2020) enforceable undertaking provided under s 46A of the Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA) and a subsequent Court Order (January 2023) under section 46B of the FTA. Mr Singh has not yet been sentenced, with proceedings adjourned to November 2026.
In 2024 and 2025, the Commission also investigated if Mr Singh had been involved in any potential breaches of the FTA related to his continued involvement in the fire safety industry. The Commission’s investigative enquiries involved both Mr Singh and related parties.
Although the Commission did identify potential breaches of the FTA by Mr Singh, the investigation was concluded after considering a number of factors, including the concurrent Contempt of Court proceedings and Mr Singh’s personal circumstances. Other steps were taken to address the potential harm, including informing Mr Singh’s known clients of the need to have their fire safety equipment re-checked, and providing compliance education to related parties.
