Cavalier Wool Holdings Limited; New Zealand Wool Services International Limited

In 2014 Cavalier Wool Holdings Limited applied for authorisation to acquire control of New Zealand Wool Services Limited’s wool scouring business. The application related to the same assets that were the subject of an authorisation that did not proceed in 2011.
The Commission authorised the application on 12 November 2015. An interested party, Godfrey Hirst New Zealand Limited, appealed the Commission’s decision ([2015] NZCC 31) to the High Court and subsequently the Court of Appeal. The High Court and Court of Appeal upheld [2015] NZCC 31 on 13 June 2016 and 30 November 2016 respectively.
