Themarket.com Limited has been fined $840,000 after pleading guilty to eight representative charges under section 10 of the Fair Trading Act. After the conduct occurred, 1-Day Limited amalgamated with Themarket.com Limited becoming a brand owned by that entity. The charges relate to the making of promotional claims on www.1-day.co.nz between 2016 and 2020, which were liable to mislead consumers about how long it’s ‘daily deals’ would be available for and the amount of stock available.
