Andrew Taylor trading as Global Sound Trade
Andrew Taylor pleaded guilty to one charge of obtaining by deception under the Crimes Act (s240) and three charges under Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA) (s10,11 and 47J). All charges related to his operation of the online store known as GlobalSoundTrade, which offered musical instruments and componentry for sale via websites in New Zealand and Australia. He was charged for routinely making false representations to consumers about the price, stock, delivery times and provision of refunds for the goods sold on the websites and failure to respond to a statutory notice. Mr Taylor has been sentenced to 9 months home detention, ordered to pay more than $86,000 in compensation and $2,400 in fines. He was also banned from using the internet for 3 months.
