ADT has been warned for potentially breaching the Fair Trading Act 1986. The potential breach relates to ADT misrepresenting its right to charge customers in situations where it likely did not have that right, because the contracts had either ended or been cancelled. The Commission’s view is that ADT may have made a false or misleading representation concerning the existence of a right in connection with the supply of goods or services in contravention of section 13(i) of the Fair Trading Act 1986.
