Committees of the Board
Most of the oversight of the Commission’s functions, powers and duties are undertaken by Committees established by the Board.
These committees have been delegated decision making powers by the Board, although the Board itself retains ultimate oversight and responsibility for the committee’s decisions.
While most committee members are Commissioners and Associate Commissioners, the Board has elected to co-opt specialist expertise on some committees to provide an external view on the Commission’s deliberations.
Audit & Risk Committee
The Audit and Risk Committee assists the Board by providing assurance that good practice audit, risk management and finance is implemented in the organisation.

Enforcement Committee
The Enforcement Committee recommends organisational Enforcement Priorities in alignment with Board direction, strategy and priorities and ensure effective oversight and delivery of enforcement functions, powers and duties on behalf of the Commission.

Grocery Committee
The Grocery Committee sets the strategic direction for the Grocery sector in alignment with Board direction, strategy and priorities and ensures effective regulatory oversight and performance of the sector.
Members: Pierre van Heerden (Convenor), Dr John Small, Anne Callinan, Rakihia Tau
Infrastructure Committee
The Infrastructure Committee sets the strategic direction for the Electricity, Gas and Airports sectors in alignment with Board direction, strategy and priorities and ensures effective regulatory oversight and performance of the sectors.

Market Regulation Committee
The Market Regulation Committee sets the strategic direction for the Payments, Fuel and Dairy sectors in alignment with Board direction, strategy and priorities and ensure effective regulatory oversight and performance of the sectors.

Merger Committee
The Merger Committee advises the Board on merger process strategy and to drive changes relevant to the merger process.

Telecommunications Committee
The Telecommunications Committee sets the strategic direction for the Telecommunications sector in alignment with Board direction, strategy and priorities and ensure effective regulatory oversight and performance of the sector.

Water Committee
The Water Committee sets the strategic direction for the Water sector in alignment with Board direction, strategy and priorities and ensure effective regulatory oversight and performance.
