Covec Report Competition for Scheduled Waste Collection Services - Sustainable Market Structure - Public PDF (3.5 MB)
In decision 604, the Commerce Commission divided waste collection markets according to whether the service follows a regular schedule (eg weekly) or is provided on request. The Commission found that scheduled services include collection from bags, wheelie bins and front-end loaded (FEL) bins. The purpose of this report is to examine a set of geographic markets for these scheduled waste services. It is focused primarily on commercially provided services, so it excludes municipal contracts for waste collection.
