New videos and quick guides on competition law

We have released a series of animated videos and quick guides to help businesses and procurers better understand competition law.

We have released a series of animated videos and quick guides to help businesses and procurers better understand competition law.

The resources were initially prepared by the United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and were adapted for New Zealand law by the Commission.

The new resources cover anti-competitive conduct including bid-rigging, price-fixing and allocating markets, which can have serious negative effects for consumers, other businesses, and taxpayers. They also provide advice for businesses on how to report illegal activity they or their competitors have been involved in.

The project is a great example of regulators working together across borders to tackle common problems.

Staff in the competition team plan to use the videos and quick guides to help educate businesses, professional associations and government procurers about competition law over the coming year.

We are also in the process of finalising a second series of videos and quick guides on unfair contract terms and hope to release them soon.

The videos and quick guides can be found on our website.
