Electricity Distribution Businesses (EDBs) must publicly disclose AMPs, which provide a forward-looking view of how EDBs intend to invest in, maintain and operate their networks for consumers, and included forecasts of future expenditure over a 10-year horizon. Further, the EDBs' AMPs are useful for understanding EDBs approaches to significant issues such as resilience and climate change.

We have contracted external expert support in undertaking our review of the 2023 AMPs. Engineering consultancy Innovative Assets Engineering (IAEngg) is undertaking a review in two stages:

  • Stage 1: an assessment of forecasting and planning methodologies contained in EDBs’ 2023 AMPs; and
  • Stage 2: a review of the current AMP disclosure requirements, and a separate resilience planning assessment.

We have now published the Stage 1 report from IAEngg. We expect to publish the Stage 2 review report(s) in Q2 2024.
