Commerce Commission Input Methodology processes upheld by High Court

The Commerce Commission today welcomed a High Court judgment on a number of judicial review applications around the Commission's 2010 Input Methodology determinations. Justice Clifford found for the Commission on all but one of the challenges brought by Vector, Wellington international Airport, Christchurch International Airport and Transpower.

Mobile monitoring report shows continuation of early trends

The Commerce Commission's second mobile monitoring report released today shows a continued narrowing of the difference between the costs of on-net and off-net calls and text messages. This has resulted in an increase in calling and text messaging between mobile networks.

Commerce Commission releases issues paper on high speed broadband demand-side study

The Commerce Commission has today released the first of three issues papers relating to the uptake of high speed broadband ahead of a public conference in February 2012. The paper examines the technical issues that the Commission has identified as being relevant to the uptake of high speed broadband services.

GE Money settles with Commerce Commission on Fair Trading Act breach

A settlement between the Commerce Commission and GE Money today will result in GE Money paying a $60,000 donation to the New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services after admitting it breached the Fair Trading Act.

Fonterra's proposed Kotahi joint venture unlikely to lessen competition - draft decision by Commerce Commission

The Commerce Commission has reached a preliminary view that a proposed joint venture between Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited and Silver Fern Farms Limited would be unlikely to harm competition, and therefore does not need an authorisation under the Commerce Act.

"Outrageous" conduct leads to indefinite banning order for lender

The Commerce Commission has welcomed a banning order, the first of its kind issued under the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act, which indefinitely prevents bankrupt and convicted fraudster Trevor Allan Ludlow from setting up, operating or working in the consumer finance industry.
