Commission closes investigation into Pernod Ricard's acquisition of Allied Domecq

The Commission has closed its investigation into the acquisition of Allied Domecq plc by Pernod Ricard S.A. and does not intend to take any further action. The Commission is of the view that the acquisition is unlikely to have resulted in a substantial lessening of competition in any market.

Kathmandu was fined $28,000 plus costs in the Auckland District Court today for breaching the Fair Trading Act by advertising goods as being "on sale" when they had been available at the discounted price for months prior to the sale and, in some cases, when they were also available at the same "sale" price afterwards.
