The conference is in Wellington on 17 and 18 October 2013.
We are delighted to bring regulation expert, Professor George Yarrow, out from the United Kingdom to provide an overarching view of the last 25 years of network regulation.
Professor Andrew Gavil will be speaking on competition from his vantage point as Director in the Office of Policy Planning at the United States’ Federal Trade Commission. In particular he will be addressing issues of monopolisation. Professor Gavil will be drawing on his latest upcoming publication on the Microsoft antitrust litigation, to be subtitled “Competition policy for the 21st century”.
Professor Scott Hempling will be joining us from the United States to talk about challenges faced in the transition from monopoly service to competition in the US, with a focus on energy markets.
We will also be hearing from our Australian counterparts at the ACCC on the introduction of new consumer law powers, including substantiation, over there, in anticipation of similar powers being introduced in New Zealand this year.
Registration will open in mid-May. Spaces will be limited, so please register your interest now to secure a place.
