Commerce Commission to investigate Hanover Finance

Release no 14, Issued 24 July 2008

The Commerce Commission has today opened an investigation into Hanover Finance.

The investigation is into whether Hanover Finance has breached the Fair Trading Act by making misleading representations to prospective investors and/or the public generally.

The finance company yesterday announced it was freezing repayments to 16,500 investors owed more than half a billion dollars.

There will be no further comment at this time.
