The regulations apply to used motor vehicles offered or displayed for sale by motor vehicle traders or persons selling a used vehicle through a car market operator.  Private sales are not covered by the regulations.

The regulations provide that the notice must:

• be printed in a font size that is easily readable by a person at a reasonable distance from the notice;
• be on white paper or card of at least 21cm by 29.5cm (A4 size);
• be completed clearly and legibly with the information set out in Schedule 2 of the regulations; and
• be updated as soon as practicable after any information about the vehicle changes.
