Arrangements to ensure continuity of telecommunications decisions at Commerce Commission

Plans have been put in place at the Commerce Commission to ensure continuity of the large workload of telecommunications decisions, during a period of transition. The new Chair Dr Mark Berry has asked Paula Rebstock to remain in her role as a member of the Commission to complete a number of determinations pending in the telecommunications work.

Commerce Commission releases quarterly report on broadband quality

The Epitiro/IDC report on New Zealand broadband quality for the December 2008 quarter has been released. The report examines the quality of broadband services provided by New Zealand's internet service providers (ISPs) as measured by Epitiro from central sites using the highest speed residential plans.

Commerce Commission warns Schindler Lifts over alleged bid-rigging conspiracy

1 April 2009

The Commerce Commission has issued formal warnings to Schindler Lifts New Zealand Limited (Schindler) and one current and one former employee for participating in a longstanding cartel arrangement which shared elevator installation contracts in the South Island. The Commission alleges the cartel operated from the early 1980s until late 1995. The warning was issued following an admission from the Schindler manager concerned.

Commerce Commission releases draft guidelines for credit fees

The Commerce Commission has today released draft guidelines which inform creditors and consumers about the Commission's approach to enforcing the fees provisions under the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act. The Commission is consulting on the guidelines before they are finalised.
