Commerce Commission's reasons for intention to declare control of Transpower's transmission services

The Commerce Commission today published its reasons for its intention to declare control of the electricity transmission services supplied by Transpower New Zealand Limited, the owner and operator of the national grid. Transpower is a monopoly and is subject to Government regulation administered by the Commerce Commission and Electricity Commission.

The Commerce Commission has granted clearance for the merger of the diagnostic laboratory services businesses of Wellington Pathology Limited and Valley Diagnostic Laboratories Limited in the Hutt Valley and Capital & Coast District Health Board districts.

GE Finance cleared to acquire Pacific Retail Finance Group

The Commerce Commission has cleared GE Finance and Insurance Limited to acquire the business and assets of the Pacific Retail Finance Group, namely: Pacific Retail Services Limited, Pacific Retail Finance Limited, Montreal Financial Services Limited and a 100% shareholding in Simply Insurance New Zealand Limited.

New Zealand Bus applies for clearance to acquire Mana Coach Services

The Commerce Commission has received an application from New Zealand Bus Limited seeking clearance to acquire the balance of 74% shares in Mana Coach Services Limited. New Zealand Bus already holds 26% of the shares in Mana Coach Services.

TelstraClear and Telecom pricing reviews withdrawn

After announcing on Friday 13 January that they had reached a commercial agreement relating to a range of services, TelstraClear and Telecom have withdrawn all the pricing reviews they had previously lodged with the Commerce Commission.

Telecom applies to Commission for pricing review of Private Office Networking resale decision

Telecom New Zealand Limited has applied to the Commerce Commission for a review of the wholesale prices set by the Commission for Private Office Networking services under the Telecommunications Act 2001. This follows a similar application for a review received from TelstraClear Limited in December 2005.
